We left Barbuda on January 16th at mid afternoon for an overnight sail to St. Martin, we headed around the north of the island and dropped the hook in Grand Case. This is a delightful little town on the French side that had a small street festival every Tuesday. Many artisan vendors line the street which is closed off to motor traffic. 'Sky's the Limit' Has great rib dinners at a great price and spend a lovely evening with Jane and Dave from Greta May.
Bus transportation is easy and we ran errands, did shopping and played tourist. A hot sunny afternoon was spent with Jo and John on Out of Africa at Sunset Bar watching the planes come into land, passing very low over the beach. A few days were spent in Marigot but we managed to avoid the Lagoon (not our favorite anchorage) ! Again, I just love provisioning on the french islands and can never get enough of their wine and cheese.
This was the short stop but we are anxious to be on our way.
Had to say goodbye to friends once again, on February 4th we did another overnight passage to St John USVI. We will be there for a few months and then spend June back in the States visiting the grandkids. Locating needed items throughout the Caribbean is always a trick and sometimes you just need to have items shipped from the U.S. Connections in St John is convenient for this and we will hved several packages waiting when we arrive.
