SAILING THE CARIBBEAN - A DREAM COME TRUE
Step Three: Interior Teak
Janice
June/2008

We were able to work on the interior teak in conjunction with the deck refinishing and rigging. Once the temperatures in St Petersburg were hitting 90 everyday, it was actually preferred to work inside with the air conditioning running. The galley and head needed to be sanded down to bare wood and needed several coats to be able to stand up to daily usage. Fortunately, most of the main salon just needed a light sanding and a coat of gloss to spruce it up. The interior was fun work and the progress showed daily giving us almost instant gratification. Some previous owner had cut a large hole (too big for a sink) in the head vanity and it was covered up with a piece of formica. Steve removed the formica and put ceramic tile around the sink, allowing us to expose the original teak counter top and storage bin. See pictures in Photo Gallery. I will eventually need to refinish the the cabin sole but will hold off for now. We are very anxious to sail!

Steve
June/2008, Marina

Spent several days bolting down rigging after putting a primer coat on the cabin roof. Can't paint it till it cools down in the fall.

3/2009 We have put many more hours into the deck this spring. deck and coach roof were sanded, reprimered and then painted. an awful job but the results are fantastic. check out the photo gallery.
