After nearly two months of travelling and 3439 miles we finally crossed the pond! The last leg took us 6 days and 15 hours to traverse 811 miles. We had great winds for the last 12 hours so we were able to sail all the way into Lagos.
During all of our passages we really appreciated our AIS (automatic identification system). This allows us to see ships that are within 12 miles of our boat. The ships show up on our chart plotter in real time and give you all kinds of great information including the ships name. All the way across the ocean we have carefully watched for ships that have gotten close to Azure II and in some cases called them on the radio to make sure they see us. We were extremely thankful as we approached the coast of Portugal. Here is a copy of the screen shot of the ships that we crossed. The pink ones are the big ships and the green one is us. Count the number of pink ships that we saw. Yikes!
