Rodney
Azure had a very rough passage last night. Azure did 178 miles in rough seas to narrowly stay in first place. The main reason for our poky passage is due to several spinnaker problems. The first encounter happened around 10:00 pm. I was driving when suddenly the spinnaker gye snapped sending the spinnaker pole into the fore stay. We had carefully put up our spinnaker net prior to night fall with the intention off fending off a wrap. before we knew it we had a huge wrap consisting of spinnaker and spinnaker net that seemed impossible to untangle. After 20 minutes we prevailed and were back underway with a jerry rig. At 3:00am we were hit by a series off squalls that caused us to round up several time. We decided to gibe and everything from then on when bad. After rounding up breaking several things we were back on track by loosing very precious time.
The finish will be exiting and we are very excited to make landfall. We are currently 600 miles away from the finish and are about to make our final gibe for finish.
