Day twelve
19 July 2014 | At Sea
Rodney
We are on the final approach to Kaneohe and are looking good to finish by midnight on the 21st. After 1780 miles and twelve days of grinding, pulling, and sweating we are looking pretty raged. So we decided to celebrate and take showers. Based on our calculations we have plenty of water for the last two days, so we splurged and filled up the solar shower. We hung the solar shower on the mast for a fresh water rinse. The shower process involved filling a bucket with salt water to do all your washing and then rinsing in wonderful warm fresh water from the solar shower. We all felt so much better after a shower.
We had a great run over the last 24 hours. We pushed the boat really hard last night and made up time on California Girl. We are also on a lower/ hotter angle and may cross Green Buffalo by tomorrow. All the boats check into the net every morning at 9:30 am to report their position. Everyone revises their calculations and strategy based on the current locations each morning. It is always fun to crowd around the radio at 9:30 am to see how we did.
