Consensus is that this trip will go down as the wettest trip to Hawaii. We have been heeled over at 20 degrees doing 8 to 9 knots for the last 12 hours. All of us have had turns at the helm taking shower after shower of cold deep blue pacific water. Ted almost got hit by a jelly fish as it washed across the deck. All of our cloths are drenched and the boat is soaked. Every time the boat flattens out I see water pour out from under the stove drawers and cup boards. We are looking forward to the wind starting to veer more northeast so we can sail flatter.

The rough weather has taken its toll on everyone. After a fantastic meal of turkey tetrazini last night, both RJ and Tony made an offering to the Ocean Gods. RJ is a real trouper - Just before I came up to relieve him, he make another offering in the cockpit, looked up and smiled, Dad I have been staying within 10 degrees of our course all night!. I just got done making a pot of Pete's french roast coffee and warming up some delicious breakfast buritos. Michele was very kind to precook several frozen meals. They are a real hit - no offerings yet.

Needless to say the mighty Azure is sailing very well. The other two Cal 40"s, California Girl is to the south of us and Green Buffalo is to the north. Each of us have selected our positions on the race course. The changing weather will make for a very interesting race as we all adjust our strategy. Our 24 hour run has been 178 miles.
