14 September 2012.
Just another beautiful day in paradise not much wind and plenty of sun, the boat is as steady as if she where on the hard. We put the outboard onto the Tender and collected the garbage and off we headed to the pier.
Walked into town and on the spur of the moment decided to catch the luxury bus to Cachoeira, a one hour drive through a few little villages the narrow roads hardly wide enough to let the bus through. There seemed to be no bus stops, people just wave the bus down and get on. Then back on the highway for a few Kilometers until it turned off again into a cobble stoned little village , then back up to the highway after picking up some more passengers. After an hour and a few more villages we crossed the old steel bridge, it being too narrow for two way traffic we had to wait for the traffic to turn and on the other side it was our turn to get off. We found a lively street market selling everything from Spinach (which we bought) to watch batterries. At last we found a battery for Michelle’s watch. Lunch was at a nice per kilo restaurant . Belly’s full we headed back along the streets absorbing everything going on around us. No sooner we were at the bus station and heading back to Maragojibe. The country side is very lush with greenery and lots of grazing cows.Walking down the jetty, what a nice surprise to find Ocean Maiden had arrived. Tjarda’s knee was not as bad and decided to join us.
