The next morning the 12/3 we left at 10 am to go back to our favorite bay, Sitio Forte. Michelle made me another lovely fish and mussel dinner and we drank a few with our dear ones at home and where ever, that were wishing me a happy one on my big 7. Just another day in paradise and lucky to be doing all the things I love doing.
Don't think it's always a walk on the beach and sundowners. Even my boat and I pride myself with keeping all systems maintained, gives the odd problem at times, that keep me busy between walking on the beach and drinking sundowners. Like the Taktik wind instrument , stops working. I climb up the mast bring it down, works perfect in my hand , okay so I take it back up again , no signal. Then the Alternator stops charging, the rev counter stops working - related problems. I find an old regulator and install it, viola it charges and we have revs again. Hardly ever a dull moment. The hull needs to be cleaned every 2 weeks as the paint is just not good enough to keep the barnacles away.

Michelle made us a fantastic wine sauce with the mussels that even
While in Abraao we met Harold on the SA Yacht Kwela, he has been here for 5 yrs not by his choice but non the less he seems more or less happy.
His boat was rammed by a big schooner and the stern section was badly damaged. We stayed in this busy anchorage for 2 days and then moved on to Ensenada das Palmas, our Bay of arrival a few weeks ago. It is only a couple of miles around the point and a deep bay opens up with another 2 lovely beaches. From there we took a walk to the other, southern side of the island where the pure white beach stretches 2 km. We walked right to the end of it where we found some big boulders extending into the ocean that where covered with black mussels. What a splendid reward after the long walk. It was low tide and we collected a bag full of the biggest specimens.
The sand is extremely fine and squeaks as you walk and when you kick it, it actually screeches. That day we walked an easy 6 km. The surf was also up on that side and I got quiet a few body surfs in. ing. We will be back to the rocks for some more in the future.

Week7: 1 March 2012
Next morning it was return the car buy fresh fruit and veggies and across to Sitio Forte and to another world all together. It is magic here, the Climate is very hot during the day and cool at night. The water is around 22 on the surface but rather on the cool side a little down. We have been to most bays on the northern side so far, all have been lovely beaches and as there is a path all around the island there is no shortage of walks. And Michelle makes sure we cover most of them, took her a while to get into this slow life style again. We have just come back from Abraao the biggest village on the island where there is a super market internet café, very expensive and lots of B&B's and souvenir shops. Very busy on the weekends with the local and foreign tourists.

On the 24 we went across to Angra dos Ries to drop of Graeme and a few days later it was Jan's turn to return home. I was sorry to see the guy's off as we had a great time together on the crossing. Off course with Jan's departure it was Michelle's arrival. Unfortunatly her plane had a problem just before take off which necessitated a change of aircraft and that incurred a 5 hour delay in her arrival
Such a pity Jan, I could have had a big hug from you.

Luckily I made the right decision to hire a car instead of going by bus to fetch her. We only got back to the marina at 1am and had to plead and beg with the security guards to let us in as the boat was anchored outside, but the dinghy was in the marina, Security is very very strict here, after midnight the marina is shut down, and no movement is allowed, except emergency. Any way we got to Snatch eventually after a heavy tip to the guard.

Week6: 22-
We left here at 7.00 for Angra dos Reis to check into the country, which turned out to be very easy. Did some shopping for fresh fruit and veggies and left in the afternoon again for Sitio Forte on the Island of Ilha Grande. This bay seems to be the most popular with the yachties. It has a great Restaurant with reasonable prices for drinks and food. In the bay there is a man made square rock with a spring water hose pipe on it. Local and foreign boats fill there tanks there.
