What a couple of days.

Let me start where this day is ending- Great sailing in calm seas and light air, started out with the spinny, and switched over to the drifter as the wind shifted from the ENE to the E (just as forecasted). Which is what we have up now- been through a couple of gentle rain showers- currently have the sun setting on the west side of the boat and several rainbows on the left (East) side of the boat. We are half way between the Marquesas and the Tuamotus, sailing on a direct line for the southeast pass at Fakarava- and the crews as caught 2 bonito and 3 tuna today-freezer is full- and the forecast for the next few days is very favorable. When we first arrived in Taiohae Bay the kids went in for a burger and met a couple of folks who have sailed over from Panama- later they came by to tell me what nice kids they are. We went on to Daniels Bay and as we were leaving Daniels they were coming in (Moonbeam)) they hailed (boat talk for yelled over at us) and asked if we were headed back to Taiohae and if we were could we take someone with us- yes and yes- next thing we know Jane is with us. Jane is a retired plastic surgeon who sailed on Moonbeam from Panama-( 2 months)-. The reason she had to go back to Taiohae was that she need cell coverage and there wasn't any in Daniels. Now you might ask as I did why of why do you need cell coverage- to which Jane replies -"why I have a deposition tomorrow and need coverage" turns out the retired NY,NY doctor does a little expert witness work on the side. She was a real kick, knew all about the Dashews and the Deerfoot concept- and wished she would have been on Emma from Panama. she about fell over when Paloma offered her fresh ice tea----with ice. Her partner, who is also a doctor, and has an endowed chair at Harvard Medical School, was meeting Jane in Papeete sometime the end of May- her partner doesn't sail. This for me is what the cruising thing is all about- meeting interesting people in interesting places- The sweet lady at Daniels Bay- then Jane- and I am sure there are more ahead- Oh and before I forget a number of you have asked if we have wasabi for the fish- yes- wasabi, soy, ginger and nori- ---- More to follow
