Interrupted Rhythm
30 November 2015 | 50 mi N Isla Guadalupe

While snuggled into my warm sleeping bag this morning at 7 AM, tempted by the smell of freshly brewed coffee, there was a tap on the deck and Bill calling "need some help up here!" That made me move a little faster than my preference at that hour of the morning...I reached the foredeck with Bob sitting on the deck clutching the spinnaker with the bottom of the sail hanging over the side dragging in the water...not the preferred method of raising the spinnaker. We quickly gathered the sail, stuffed it back in the sock and decided maybe we'd try the spinnaker a little later in the day. The short interruption to our rhythm quickly faded and soon we were sailing at 8 knots on a broad reach. After breakfast we revisited the spinnaker issue, hoisted it and began a 5-6 hour sale at 8-9.5 kn in calm seas and sunshine. The chute came down just before sunset, the working sails set and we jibbed for Isla Guadalupe. About as near a perfect day of sailing as you can imagine, 100 miles off the coast of central Baja Mexico. Buenas Noches.
