Tropical terror: Weather getting colder here in New Zealand. Looks hotter than hell in Fiji
We're off to Fiji on the big airplane on Friday 3/9. Winter is on its way down here, but the tropics could still pump out a cyclone to welcome us back - this being an El Nino year. Sailing the distance made the transition to the tropics a little smoother... if you can handle the weather.
There's always a few projects before the boat can go back in the water. Hopefully cyclone season will be well past by then and we can get out of the marina and out to the islands where the ventilation is a little better. The head thru-hull is forty four years old. I think it's time to replace it. The bottom paint was wearing off in places and that needs to be addressed before the splash.
I'm hoping for a sailing window to Vanuatu and back to Fiji sometime during the season as I think this may be the last one in the South Pacific. There are other things on my Bucket List and time is running out... ever so slowly.
