How it all started . . .

24 November 2016
One of my earliest memories is sailing with my Father off Lido Island in Southern California. I must have been about five and was loving the feel of the wind in my face (see my smile). At one point I remember him tying a rope to my life vest (I was already a good swimmer) and pulling me behind the boat as she sailed along. I'm sure this must have freaked my Mother out . . . but for me, it was the start of the dream . . . the dream of water, sun, fun and freedom. Remember, it's never too late to have a happy childhood!

A dream Imagined . . .

On December 1st I will fly to New Bern, North Carolina to continue the fulfillment of a dream imagined a long time ago. "Imagine" (what a great name!) is a Stevens 47 sailboat. Built in Taiwan in 1985 she is one of the best sailing yachts in the world. "Imagine" already has 2 circumnavigations under her keel and is ready for more.

My plan is to finish outfitting and provisioning by Dec. 20th and then head for Florida. In Florida, I will complete any further provisioning and head out for the Bahamas. Winter cruising the Bahamas . . . then who knows?
