05 June 2013
Seems that we may have water in our diesel tank and when you ride the waves the way we did yesterday coming out of Norfolk, we sloshed some water to the top and it cut our engine off while an aircraft carrier was beginning their exercises. There is a marine radio that we all use on Channel 16 and since we had no motor, we had to put our jib sail out. This caused us to get real close to the channel which made the United States Navy a little nervous so..on the marine radio, which all our recent new friends listen to at the marina, the sailor from the Navy announced "will the sailing craft near channel cease and desist from approach or we will have to use LETHAL FORCE". This was a warning but when we still had to get towed back to the same marina again, where we had just spent 3 nights. our new friends(mostly motor boaters) at the dock had heard this message and were making fun of it (it was probably a sailboat), not knowing it was us...Well we had a few laughs and some of us went out to dinner and had a few glasses of Argentine Malbec to relax. We feel like this is our second home. John has been logging all our boat data in our log book such as mile markers, start and finish of trip, how much fuel was used and so forth. We slept like logs and are now having our first cup of coffee, waiting for Miguel, our Dominican mechanic to get out of a fuel injection class to come and help us. His wife is a Zumba teacher and I am making plans to go to her class tonight.
