We have turned the corner when we passed Mizen Head, left the southwest coast and are now on the south coast of Ireland. I saw a sign in a grocery store - listed their "Winter hours"! Actually the weather has been nice, lots of sunshine. We sit out the bad weather days and only travel when the sailing is good. Ireland has some astonishing scenery. Unlike Newfoundland, with its fog, we can actually see land as we sail by! Many times we are the only boat, or one of the few boats, around, the cruising season is past. On land, there are still tourists but they are either young adults in their hiking mode or older, and often retired-age folks. Hardly ever see any kids out and about. Today we rode our bikes by a little school - maybe twenty kids in all - outside for recess. First time I have seen kids in weeks.
