We are at the visitor marina in Lerwick. The boat on the left end is from Montreal, Canada. The couple sail two months of the year and came via Labrador, Greenland, Iceland and Faroe Islands. The second boat is from Switzerland and the couple sailed from southern Spain, Azores, west coast of Ireland and Scotland. Like us they are heading to Norway but then we part ways and they head south, over to Sweden and Denmark, through the Kiel Canal, up the Rhine River to Switzerland. The boat next to them are British and I have not heard their story. The next boat, barely visible, carries two young guys from France and Belgium. They sailed this year up the Norwegian coast to to Spitzbergen (north of the Arctic circle) and are now heading back down to France. Nokomis is next and the final boat is from Norway. They had a two-day sail over, will spend a week here and then head back. The big red boat, with the heli-pad, behind us all - we think has something to do with the oil rig business. It is now official, I have become a social butterfly.
We are now above 60 degrees north, a milestone for us.
