The Shiant Islands are a grouping of islands 5 nm off the coast of Lewis. It has high, steep hills and is uninhabited. Perfect rookery for seabirds. We did not anchor and go ashore, but we did circle around slowly. The birds would slowly part for us to pass, but this is definitely their turf. The cliffs had many nests and we were surrounded by the sound of birds. The picture is of a puffin taking off. Their beak seems so heavy, they look like they run on top of the water to get a take-off.
