Isle of Man

We made it into the harbor at Douglas, on the east side of Isle of Man. We were feeling spiffy about our boat speed. Then, the catamaran, high-speed ferry came whipping by at over 38 knots and made us feel quite humble!
Man is located smack dab in the middle of the Irish Sea, equi-distant between Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and shares their Gaelic history. The tidal currents swirl around the island back and forth, around one way and then the other.
The island is named after the Gaelic sea god “Manannan” who would protect the island and its’ people by cloaking the island in mist. If you look closely through the mist in the photo, you can see four layers of land rising from the sea. Manannan is still protecting the island with a mist.
