Ft. Myers Beach is a great place for sailors to stop and regroup. The mooring ball is $18.00 a night or $103.00 a week. Monthly rate is $312.00, which is a deal. This price includes use of a very nice shower facility, dinghy dock, laundry and access to all marine services.

We rented a car the first two days we were here; not for sightseeing, but in order to get supplies and parts that we needed. Our third day was spent completing such mundane tasks as laundry, and updating our ship's log.

We spent the majority of the day on Tuesday at Bowditch Beach, which is a very nice secluded beach, located in the middle of thousands of people. We were able to get some good pics of a blue heron and a snowy white egret. They were fishing and would come within 8 feet of us.

If you are ever in the Fort Myers Beach area and are looking for a place to stay, the people at the Matanzas Inn, which manage the mooring field, are very friendly and accommodating.
