We anchored two nights in Magothy Bay with a beautiful view of an old plantation. It rained virtually the whole time we were at anchor, so played games and watched movies. It was our first days of total rain, but at least it was cooler!!

Knapp Narrows saves about 2 hours of cruising around a peninsula. The picture shows why it is the narrows! It is also shallow as we 'skimmed the bottom' coming out on the west side into the Bay.

There are many old sailing ships in the Chesapeake.

No picture today, though we have been in Mears Yacht Haven Marina for two nights. The a/c has been running full blast and they have a pool. The town of Oxford has beautiful old homes, but no shops or activities. St. Michael's was much more lively.
Jim's sister, Joann, joined us last night for dinner and brought our mail. She stayed overnight and left for work in D.C. from JimKat. She brought fresh corn and a watermelon!!! I'll buy dinner anytime for that!

Numerous boats were on display at the maritime museum that highlighted crabbing and oystering. The long stick at the back of this boat is for steering as the crabber is working his net at the back of the boat. There is generally only one man on each boat.

If you have read Michner's "Chesapeake", you understand what the 'big guns' were. This gun could kill up to 50 ducks in one shot........just sneek up in your boat at night and pull the trigger!! You don't really rest these guns on your shoulder!
