hi guys
dont know if sailblogs is up yet or not here is a quick update
we entered the red sea a few hours ago. it is 2am here. blasting along at 7kts with 30kts of wind. looking to be off eritrea by sunrise well away from somalia!
we are at 12º47.63'N 043º20.76'E still traveling in formatino with imagine although we lost them for a bit. karli kept asking if they needed us to slow down then all of a sudden the where .5 nm behind us complaining we did not slow down. any ways we got though that i reefed (hopefull did not damage the sail it was really blowwing) and got back in formation
had to do a little generator repair this am. raw water pump leaking out of the shaft seal. seal was shot as was impeller. managed to blow all the bits out of the heat exchanger and get everything going in time to leave at noon. you can see me scraping the old gasget off the water pump housing here.
on the way out aden port control was yelling at us because we never checked out (or in) but i ignored them and they did not send anyone after us we should be out of their teratorial waters in another 15 min so should be good ot go there as well.
will put this in the blog soon :) cheers, Roger
