Left at 0600 for a 77nm 11.5 hr run to Santa Rosalia, still heading south along the Baja. We arrived in the early evening. Quiet day; winds 4-10kns; flat seas. Lots of sea life: couple of seals sunning themselves with a fin in the air; number of gray whales enjoying the day (some moms and babies); 2 marlin 5-7 feet leaping clear of the water; lots of birds, ducks.

First day at the old docks: still as warped and funky as ever; Casey and Annie are still here on the Vgor; Chuck left for La Paz (No Mas); Chico completely cleaned the bird poop off our dock—I think he has a thing for Wendy. Jim has enough solar panels on Sea Hunter that he can run his AC off the sun. And some new folks we are getting to know. Trucked 4 5 gallon jerry cans up the block to Pemex (twice) to bring the fuel tank up to 7/8s. Grocery shopped. Had some famous hotdogs from the corner stand. I had 3; Wendy had 2—healthy turkey dogs –then wrapped in bacon and deep fat fried and smothered in grilled onion sauted in mustard, butter and garlic served on fresh baked buns from the bakery up the street. The current record is 8, held by some one. That was 92 pesos (that’s $7.18) with pop. I did say that they were “healthy turkey dogs” didn’t I?
Everyone is out and about in town this evening. An open air movie is being projected in the town square. Cars stop for the walkers who flow on and off the streets and sidewalks. Gordo is running his latest boxing prodigee through combinations on the malecon. The pangas are heading out to fish over the night. And things are finally starting to get cool again. On the water, the temps are in the high 70s; on land it’s a desert climate-no breeze and the high 90s. Note to self: buy more fans.
Curried fresh shrimp on rice for dinner with salad and a French wine; Mexican ice cream for dessert. “Life is good”

We got in trouble for dropping off the grid for a couple of days—well, a couple of weeks—well, maybe several weeks. Casey of the Vgor got so excited to hear the Britt had found us moving on the AIS. Casey had just ordered an AIS station and installed at the Marina (free from Greece of all places). Anyway, we have apparently been grounded by our kids if we don’t do better in the future, or maybe we were grounded anyway. Roles are reversing. I’m hoping to remove some demerits over the next couple of weeks since we will be within cell and wifi range most days---something that just wasn’t possible up north.
Laundry day: we can do it for 150 pesos in town or they will do it for us to pick up after lunch for 160 pesos. What should we do?
