We moved across the bay today; principally to get some wifi off a private island [someone got the password]. I've been up since 4 am to get some internet stuff done [renewing sailmail subscription, Mcafee subscription, updating blog and seeing if we still have a cruising kitty left]. Apparently, all is relatively well in the world--at least our limited world]. We did a reef snorkel yesterday. We usually get one in every other day on average.
Every day has a little bit of work and a lot of recreation. We are pretty self-sufficient except for provisions and fuel. Yesterday, I moved fuel from the jerry cans on deck to the boat tank and the dingy tank to get ready to refill the jerry cans on deck before we leave for a 1,200 passage to Tonga in the next few days. Our visa is running out for French Polynesia. We decided not to get the long stay visa here in the interest of saving some money and recognizing that we have other places to see before the cyclone season starts in late October.
Every place we have been has been as good or better than the last place we left, so far. And we expect this to continue in Tonga.
1,200 nm seems like a long way but we hope to break it up in legs of 500nm or less as we stop at Maupihaa, Palmerston, Nuie and Beverage Reef along the way.
