Kathleen and I have set sail for the last time together. It is now time for us each to head in a new and very different direction. Kathleen will be pursuing her dream to be a musician somewhere west of the Mississippi and I will be moving to Reno to be close to my daughters.

I have been working on our catamaran Sprout for over a year to get her ready for very comfortable cruising, and she is now ready and for sale. I am happy that I was able to have a great cruise on her from Tampa to New Bern and Kathleen and I went on a few fun cruises in our local waters of NC. Somebody will be very lucky and happy to take her far over the horizon.

Excellent condition

I have used the ATN climber to go up to the top of the mast a couple times but I wasn't able to get quite high enough to work on the anchor light so the yard lifted me up with the same crane that pulled Sprout out of the water.

The crane made the trip up very easy and fast. I had already replaced the Raymarine wind transducer and was going to check the wiring to the anchor light that has never worked. I removed the anchor light and checked for 12 volts at the wire ends while my helper turned the light switches on. I was very happy to discover that the anchor and tri-color wiring was good, so I ordered a new LED anchor/Tri-color light that I will install in a few days.

I have been working on Sprout most days to get her ready for our cruise to Maine. I brought in some professional fiberglass guys to pretty up all the Gel coat and fix some cracks. I am focusing on the bottom paint, saildrive seals and zinc painting, engine maintenance, bow sprit stays, galley upgrades, electrical work, etc. I am hoping to launch the week of May 11th and we may be able to get underway around May 20th.

Sprout was pulled out of the water by this military crane and custom made catamaran trailer. It was only the 3rd time the yard used this contraption, so it was a tense operation - it went well.

We are preparing ourselves and our catamaran - Sprout for a summer cruise to Maine. We hope to leave around early June and head up the ICW to Norfolk and then outside up the NJ coast with stops in Cape May and Atlantic City. We will stop in NYC if we can get a mooring and then continue up the Long Island Sound.
We plan to attend the SSCA Gam in Essex, CT starting on June 19th.

Kathleen brought the best sun screen!

We sailed a short way south to Tahiti beach yesterday and have been enjoying the very peaceful conditions.

This peaceful, little home is sitting at the end of the harbor with crystal clear water, a deep water dock and great storm protection all around. Definetely a fixer-upper, but a perfect spot to swim laps right from your dock year-round and have easy access to fantastic fishing and splendid sailing!

We have taken a few different self guided tours of Man O War and it is another Abacos Gem. We had to anchor outside of the very protected harbor because this big cat will not fit, so we have had a few fun dinghy trips into this amazing spot that looks a lot like Maine!
