Racing in St. Maarten

Boy have I been negligent about keeping up with the blog! Sorry folks, we haven't dropped off the edge of the world where the sea ends.
Since we have been spending so much time here in St Maaren I have gotten involved in some racing. I went to the local yacht club and asked about the weekend racing. They have a fleet of Jenneau 20's and a fleet of Lasers that are raced weekly. They invited me to race one of the Lasers. So I have been racing them on Saturdays for 3 weeks. I have never raced dinghys, and haven't been in a Laser for 25 years. Of course the kids cleaned my clock! But I have been getting better. SO much so that I was in second place at the top of the first beat today, and led at the leeward mark. I couldn't hold the lead, but I felt that was encouraging. I maintain my old conviction that the Laser is the best sailboat on the water, no exceptions. Affordable, accessible, fun, and anyone can sail one. I'll try to get a picture up here.
I'm having fun in the sun.
