Fabrics

Meri
There are several very nice fabric stores in La Paz. I am amazed at a couple of things about them. The selection of quality and fine fabrics is tremendous... silks, satins, brocades... you name it! Then there's the price... very reasonable. There are at least five large fabric stores in La Paz and many notions stores around town where you can buy all kinds of craft supplies: knitting, crochet, fabric paints, etc...

The huge difference that I have noticed on the Baja is that clothing prices in stores is very high. Even at Sam's Club and 'warehouse' type stores... store bought clothing is expensive. Fabric, on the other hand, is affordable. For example, I bought over six meters of fabric for less than $5US. I probably would have paid close to $30US in the states. Many of the local women you see walking around town look very well put together and I bet most of them made their own outfits.
