Salacia is a modifed 1996 Catalina 42 MKII. Her list of modifications include a cutter rig, double bow roller, extra lower shrouds, running backstays, stiffened hull, full bimini, large solar panel arch with five panels, wind generator, through-bolted windows, raised lifelines including a stainless tube rail, stainless grab rails in the galley and forward stateroom, increased water and fuel tanks, and increased access to under-the-floor storage.

"Salacia" is a Roman sea Goddess. The God Neptune wanted to marry her but she ran off and hid from him in the Atlantic ocean. Neptune sent a dolphin to look for her and when the dolphin found her it brought her back to him. Salacia agreed to marry Neptune and the dolphin was awarded a place in the heavens. Their son is the fish-man Triton. She is decorated with the attributes of a queen, her waving hair covered with a net, and sometimes with the pincers of a lobster attached to her temples. The Greeks referred to her as Amphitrite.

The tradition of eating fish on Friday comes from many different pagan cultures. Aphrodite Salacia, the fish Goddess, was worshipped by her followers on her sacred day of Friday. They ate fish and engaged in orgies which is how the word "salacious" meaning lustful became used.

July 23rd is her annual celebration day.
