Motored last two days but did get the sails up for a couple of hours today. There was a small wasps nest in one of the folds of the mains'l. I've been at the dock too long! I'm anchored for the night at Los Frailes near Pulmo Reef. Tomorrow I hit Cabo for diesel. Two other boats left La Paz when I did and three more will leave on Wed. All is well.

Today I began my "big adventure" by finally slipping the dock lines at the marina in La Paz. Although I only sailed 7 miles to a quiet anchorage north of town, I feel great about getting away. This evening is the most relaxed I've been in months. Sand Dollar and I are about as ready as we can be. The projects were not all completed but they never are. I just had to set a date and stick to it or I would be at the dock forever. For the next three days I will sail about 50 miles per day then anchor for the evening. The last stop will be Cabo San Lucas to top off the fuel tank and maybe pick up a pint of milk for my coffee (I have 6 lbs of Starbucks onboard). After Cabo I will point the boat southwest toward the Marquesas and hope for a fair wind and light seas. Twenty-five or 30 days later I should see the mountains of Fatu Hiva, the most easterly of the Marquesas.

Spent part of the morning waiting for my exit document from the Port Captain. This is known as a "Zarpe" and is good for certain duties in the head unless, of course you get boarded by the Navy or Coast Guard, in which case you'd better have it.
