It was a bit windy!

The weather in Georgetown has been perfect for the last few days. I've been able to hunt on in the Sound a couple of times with Berry and John. Unfortunatly, it didn't hold for Abby and Jakes arrival. Having made the mistake of picking up guests in the dinghy when the waves in Elizabeth Harbor were up, we contacted Elvis, who runs the water taxi, to deliver them to "Sapphire."It was the the right decision. The ride over would have been a disaster.
We had planned two or three short trips from Georgetown during their stay with us but the weather didn't cooperate. The only way out of Elizabeth Harbor is by way of the sound and with winds in the 20 knot range it is a rough exit. Anchored in the lea of Stocking Island, we were able to get to shore for walks and for Abby to get some sun. We were able to dinghy to the Chat and Chill most afternoons and hiked most of the trails on the island. The good hunting areas were way too dangerous, but we did get them in the water for some swimming.
We had a great time during their stay...but wish that we could have taken them to some of of our favorite spots.
On Sunday before their departure, we weighed anchor and sailed up and down the harbor, dodging many of the 300 boats anchored in the harbor. It was fun. We rarely sail just for the fun of it any more, although we always enjoy a good sail. We re-anchored in Kidd Cove to make our morning dinghy ride to catch the taxi a little shorter. The next morning we said our good byes and they headed back to a snow storm in Minnesota.
Monday was spent in town doing laundry and topping off our water tank. We had lunch in town and then returned to get the boat ready for an early morning departure with "Mutual Fun." We were bound for Long Island, fishing our way across to the northern end and then south to Thompson Bay.
We fished like crazy with no luck. So, we headed in to Thompson Bay and dropped the hook. Many of our friends came in here today from the Jumento's¬-it will be good to see them all. We rode around with Kim and Steve the following day, doing laundry, banking, and having lunch at Max's Conch Bar-always a fun spot.
We have spent several days having lunch and internet at Long Island Breeze, chatting with Mike and Jackie. We left one morning and fished north all day, catching nothing but a small barracuda. We anchored for the afternoon/night at Calabash Bay and walked the beautiful beach there. We left in the morning to fish some more, again, no luck for us, but Fine Lion caught a nice Mahi they would share. Then it was back to Thompson Bay for the next blow. There seems to be a lot of wind in the last month. Wish those people in the states would quit having such bad weather that seems to end up down here. I have not seen snow though, and swimsuits seem to be the dress of the day.
We have not done anything spectacular in the last few days, we wish we could be more exciting. The children will probably be happy to hear there has not been a lot of boat work to bored by, although if Mike were writing, I'm sure he could think of something. Our good friends on Madcap came over from Georgetown and we have gotten together for cocktails and to meet Jim's sister Mary Jean. It was so nice to see them again.
Today's excitement when the dinghy went walk-about and Fine Lion had to go chase her down and bring her back. We will go in to do some laundry and internet at the Breeze and hope to post the blog. I had no luck getting to Sailblogs the last time I tried. Our plan is to head north to fish again tomorrow and anchor at the north end, then head to Georgetown for a day or so, then begin heading north to meet with friends and family.
