November 12th....2009 Vero Beach to Peck Lake, FL
We left about 8 a.m., with Jay taking over our mooring shortly after. It was a cold, grey day in Florida and we had fleece on most of the morning. The wind was from the northwest so there was no protection in the cockpit.
With favorable tides and current we arrived around 12:30 and had a relaxing afternoon.
It remained cool, so we roasted a turkey breast and some potatoes for dinner and then watched "Momma Mia" in the evening.

During the morning I worked on cutting out the area in the cockpit where our new shower will be installed. It took some time, but by about noon it was in place. I won't plumb it in until we have a day to take the sole up to run hose back there from the galley.
Steve and I took the noon bus to West Marine to pick up our orders while Kathy and Kim ran a few loads of laundry.
On our return I ran a couple of loads of water to top off our tank and then went to work on the new nav light. I had to drill the bracket on the bow sprit but it went together quite well. The problems started when I connected it to power and there was none. On further inspection I found that the old wire that runs through the stainless bow rail was damaged by lightning.
Kathy was on the phone with Nancy who said that I could use their car to run back to West Marine for some new wire. I dropped Kathy off at "Solitaire" and headed back to town.
When I returned we stopped at the fuel dock for some to top off our gasoline cans and to check out. We plan to move south tomorrow morning.
Steve and I worked on the nav light until dark and finally got things working.
Kathy made dinner while I put tools away and straightened things up in the cockpit.

We walked to breakfast this morning in temps around 80. There is a nice little breakfast place on the beach a couple of miles away that we usually dinghy to, but after last night's dinner, everyone agreed that a walk was in order.
On our return we took care of some banking and then went to shore to borrow Jim and Nancy's car for yet another provisioning trip. We stopped at a vegetable market , Home Depot, Walmart, West Marine, and Publix before heading back to unload.
The remainder of the afternoon was spent adding our purchases of the last two days to our manifest and finding places for them on a boat that is already low in the water.
Barry and Susan arrived in Florida yesterday to work on "Night Hawk" in Ft. Pierce. It's only about 15 miles to the south so they drove up to have dinner with the four of us. We haven't seen them since last spring when they headed for Cuba. They have about a week of work before they launch.
The weather is still not very conducive to crossing the Gulf Stream. Chris Parker doesn't really see any good opportunities in the next week.
