December 10th 2009 Black Point
Although we have a couple of projects on the list, today ended up being another reading day. I did some cooking and we visited with our friends Jay, Di, Bob, and Mary Lou and Steve on "Far Niente" for snacks in the evening. On our return we listened to State play Oakland but I fell asleep shortly after halftime.
Our plans are to stay here a few more days and then sail back north to Staniel Cay for a while. We are low on fish again so will have to spend some time in the water.
Hey, one of our jobs is to get some of these books off the boat, so we have to spend some time reading.

Another day where very little of a productive nature was accomplished. Kathy cleaned the boat and I spent some time chatting with Bill and Amy of "Dream Catcher" and ended up inviting them over in the afternoon for snacks and cocktails. Bill is a computer person and promised to look at my SSB modem problem.
Our afternoon was spent mostly reading. I did make a pesto pizza for snacks and tidied up the cockpit a little. Bob and Mary Lou from "Cygnus" pulled in later in the afternoon followed by Jay and Di on "Far Niente".
We had a nice time and Tom did in fact get the SSB and Pactor modem talking to our computer.
Rick on "Sea Language" ask me a few days ago check with the school here on Black Point to see what equipment they were in need of... and I relayed that information to him this morning after Cruizheimers.

Thank you for the "weather" update email. I now have this lovely picture as my cell phone screen saver to remind me of what we're missing!

We wasted most of the morning reading but eventually got going and packed up some dirty clothes and our computers. Ida was out so we had to hike down to Adderley's market to purchase tokens for the washers and drivers. I left Kathy to load the washers and hiked down to Lorraine's to plug in the computer and get some work accomplished.
Jim, Nancy, and Steve were there already, as were two other couples. Kathy joined us when the laundry was done and we all had a late lunch before returning to the boat to make some water and read.
With such a late lunch we really were not up for and dinner but did snack a little as we read and finally watched an episode of "Dexter."

A mess of fish!

December 6th, 2009 White Point to Black Point, Exumas
After a great bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich, Steve came over to go hunting. The water was flat. We drove around at full speed in the dinghy watching the bottom for coral heads and rocks to check out. Most of our time was spent searching, but we did do quite a bit of snorkeling. We saw a few grouper and other fish but didn't end up shooting anything.
When we returned around noon, Kathy had been in contact with Jim and Nancy of "Solitaire" on the VHF who were motoring south to join us. We decided to call them back and meet them in Black Point.
We got the anchor up a little after noon and motored the 7 miles north to Black Point and dropped the hook just ahead of "Solitaire".
After arriving, anchoring and getting the boat squared away we dinghied over for a visit. As we arrived Jim and Nancy appeared wearing Santa hats...we thought they may be pushing things but a moment later, Nancy went down to the cabin and popped out with Christmas gifts for us from home.
We ended up spending most of the afternoon with them and were joined by Steve, and then Chirs and Ann from "Mr. Mac."
After snacking all afternoon we really we not very hungry and spent the evening reading.

Your hunting/ gathering skills have obviously picked up since we last saw you. You'll have to teach me a thing or two when we finally catch up to you. Great talking to you on the SSB last week. Jim
