After breakfast we headed out for a fishing trip to the south. It was calm and we had a nice ride although our outboard was flooding so badly that every time we stopped I had to drain the bowl on the carb to get it going again. We stopped at a beach and checked it out finding a couple of hamburger beans but not much else. I left Kathy there and headed out in the Atlantic to find Steve and Kim. It was too deep for snorkeling so we came back inside and found some likely heads after collecting Kathy from the beach.
I ended up with a huge trigger fish that I had shot while it was in a coral head. It was too big to get out so after about 20 dives I returned to the dinghy for my gloves, dove again breaking off a section of dead coral, and finally got the fish out of the little cave.
We started back and hit a few more spots on the way leaving Steve and Kim to explore some more.
"Veranda" had called for a garbage burning gathering on the beach at 4:30 which meant that we needed to come up with a dish to pass. We still had lots of bananas so I made banana bread and got it in the oven.
Jay from "Far Niente" offered to look at my carburetor so I left Kathy baking the banana bread and headed over work on the outboard with him for awhile. After an hour or so we figured out and fixed the flooding problem. But is still was running rough and not at all at low speeds.
There were 5 couples on the beach for the "burn" and we had a nice time, as we always do.

January 8th, 2010 Galliot Cut to Thompson's Bay, Long Island
We have been planning on making our trip to the Jumentos on the inside, staying on the banks all the way down. We would leave from Little Farmers, anchor on the banks one night, and then sail the second half of the trip on the next day. We haven't been able to get two nice days in a row to make the trip, and now that we have two days there is a nasty front headed our way that will blast us once we get there.
So we decided to sail to Thompson Bay, Long Island for protection, then move south from there. We left just after daylight and motor sailed all day arriving just after dark. It was a long haul and mostly uneventful. We did catch a nice tuna and a small Mahi. "Fine Lion" caught 3 Mahi.
After getting the anchor down, we had visitors. Jay and Di (Far Niente) came over with Bill and Christy (Veranda) who were returning from dinner. They stayed for a few minutes before heading back to their boats.

January 7th, 2010 Black Point to Galliot Cut, Exumas
After breakfast we weighed anchor and attempted to sail down to Little Farmers, but the wind died and we turned on the engine. We anchored on the west side of the island and dingied in to visit Jim on "Solitaire." Nancy had to make an unscheduled trip back to Washington and Jim was on a mooring alone, so we wanted to touch base with him before moving further south.
After our visit we returned to the boat weighed anchor again and motored south about 5 miles to Galliot Cut where we anchored for the night behind an island.

We got a good night's sleep, although it was still windy with some waves rolling into the bay. In the morning we stayed aboard. I replaced the articulating arms on our solar panels. One of them was broken and Kim bought replacements during her trip back to the States. I also changed the orientation of the cleats on our davits to avoid rubbing on the dinghy. I had to drill most of the holes and it took way longer than I had anticipated, but that is usually the case.
In the afternoon we went ashore with Kim, Steve, Larry and Bev (Shandell). We worked on the computers at Lorraine's and then had a late lunch.
We listened to the Spartans play Wisconsin in the evening and ended up eating popcorn for supper. (we were still full from lunch at 3 p.m.)
