D & D arrive!

21 April 2010 | Staniel Cay, Exumas
April 3rd, 2010 Black Point, Exumas

We spent the morning on the boat and went ashore around noon for some lunch. There were a couple of food stalls set up across from the school where we purchased some Bahamian fare and walked back to a picnic table at Scorpio's. Steve, Kim, Roland and Leda were there as well.

A little later we wandered down to the water where the fishermen in the fishing contest brought in their morning catches. It was impressive, with most participants bringing in at least 30 reef fish. There was lots of good natured banter and prizes for the most fish as well as the largest fish.

Kathy purchased a conch salad for our guests to try as we wandered around town trying to find the best place to watch the basketball game tonight, finally settling on DeShaMon's, which is where we tried to watch the final game last year.

We returned to the boat for a nap and then headed back to town at 5:30 for the game.

The game was coming in fine as we ordered but reception got steadily worse as time went on. As soon as we were finished eating we moved down the street to Scorpio's to see the last few minutes.

After the disappointing game, the Junkanoo Parade was starting up on the street outside so we went out and listened to the music for a while before going back in to watch some of the second game.

We returned to the boat later and ended up listening to the game on the radio.
