Yes you can pull it off as it is a dream to many and only a few are doing what your setting off to do. It is a lot of hard work preparing for such a feat but the good times will far out weigh it all. You have alot of friends pulling for you and standing behind you with what ever help you need to start out.

Go Mike, Go Kathy!!!
we're behind you all the way! (and a bit jealous...).
Fair Winds, and we hope our wakes cross again someday soon.

You are now on your way. You are going to have an excellent adventure and we will track your progress. We would have posted this to your "off we go", but we couldn't figure out how to post it there. Hope to meet up with you in South Carolina. Sorry we didn't get a picture of you leaving the dock. Didn't think of that until to late.

Kathy and Mike. I just found out about the blog. Dave set me up at school. I am forever envious, but also happy beyond belief for you both. I'll keep track. Email if you can.
May your seas be calm and your dream fullfilled.
Janis
Can we really pull this off?

Beginning this Blog is one more task crossed off the "to do" list as we attempt to organize our lives and our boat for a July 5th departure. We have about six weeks and at this point the list is still long enough to scare us.

The front rolled through just before daylight with a couple of nice squalls rinsing the salt from our decks. An hour later the wind picked op to about 25 knots as advertised. We stayed aboard most of the day rocking and rolling and reading. In the afternoon we listened to Purdue beat Michigan. The announcers were upset by the recent "rough play" in the big ten but didn't give any specifics except a couple of Michigan players.

In the afternoon we dinghied over to "Cygnus" with five other couples for snacks. which as usual became our dinner. We had blue crab dip made from crabs trapped by Mary Lou in the Chesapeake and tuna ceviche from Steve's last catch. Judy from "Lunacy" brought of a plate of wonderful vegetables. Susan made a pizza and cut it into bite sized pieces. Kathy made a new dip that she learned at a seminar last fall.. One cup of mayonnaise, one cup shredded cheddar and one cup of finely chopped onions. It sounds weird but was surprisingly good.

In the evening we listened to another basketball game and then went to bed with the wind still howling in the rigging.
