June 22nd... Oriental, NC

After coffee I ran over to the marina and used Steve's hose to fill our water containers. Kathy transferred the water to our tank while I went to the fuel dock for 16 gallons of fuel. I picked up the impeller that was ordered last week and a chart of the Outer Banks before retuning.

After transferring the fuel to our tank I returned for another load of water. Then it was back to the fuel dock for 16 more gallons of fuel. We were finished with fuel and water by lunch time.

I ran Kathy over to Steve and Kim's condo to do a couple of loads of wash and finally at about 3pm our work for the day was completed. We read for a while and then took a dinghy ride up the two creeks that meet here in Oriental.

At 5:30 we met our friends at the Tiki Bar for a beer and then returned to grill some venison steaks that Dave and Kristie brought to Charleston. They were excellent.

June 21st... Oriental, NC

It was much cooler this morning, so after coffee I jumped in the dinghy and cleaned the yellow stuff off our water line that has been bugging me and then worked on the exhaust soot on the stern. Then I washed the blue stripes on our topsides and applied a couple of coats of Poly-glo, which we use on that surface to brighten up its fading.

We ran the engine for awhile and then, between Father's Day greetings from the girls, changed the oil and cleaned the air intake.

After cleaning up the boat and myself I made a BLT salad for lunch. Kathy got a load of dirty clothes around and we went in to Steve and Kim's condo for a visit and a load of laundry. Steve and I took the long way to the grocery and he gave me a tour of the surrounding area.

They had invited Amie and Nancy from "Southern Exposure" over at 5pm so we returned to "Sapphire" to thaw some Mahi fingers and make a couple of dipping sauces before returning to the party.

We retuned before dark and watched a horrible movie before bed.

June 20th ... Oriental, NC

We had bagels and fresh sliced tomatoes for breakfast and then wasted most of the morning. At about 10:30 we took the dinghy to shore and then walked over to the seafood shack to purchase our dinner...one pound of shrimp and a half pound of scallops.

We walked over to Steve and Kim's condo and put everything in their refrigerator. It was so hot that by the time we arrived, my shirt was soaked. Kim stuck it in the dryer for a while and I was back in business. Today is "Art on the Neusse" so we were obligated to walk through their work stopping at the Tiki Bar for a beer in the shade.

By this time we were hungry and stopped at M and M's for some lunch before returning to the boat. There was just enough breeze on the water to be comfortable.

At 6 we returned to Steve and Kim's for dinner... which was as good as you could expect. Sauted scallops and grilled shrimp with sliced tomatoes and onions on the side.

We returned to Sapphire, watched an episode of "Cold Case" and turned in.
