"I always feel like The Ghost from Christmas Past when we do this exercise of hauling the heavy chain out on our side deck to rinse it and let it dry." On our primary alone, we have 200' of chain and 120' of rope. Then our secondary anchor has 200' of rope and 30' of chain.

Paddling around Bequia
As my buddy Joan Dwyer would say, “the goal in paddle boarding is to avoid looking like a little old lady pushing a Wegman’s cart.” Actually, I’ll be doing that soon enough as we are heading home in a week.
Back outta Whack!
“Well, you could swim along behind the boat on our next passage, “ Moby suggested helpfully. “It’s only 68 miles. That ought to loosen you right up!”
During the bad back time, we (aka I) hobbled around Isles de Saintes for a few days; made a quick 20 mile passage to Dominica, followed by an even longer 12 hour day of motor-sailing to Grande Anse d’Arlet, Martinique.
Because of the bad back (of which we are not speaking), about the only comfortable position for me on passages was to lay flat on my back in the cockpit. We figured out a way to relieve the boredom though.
“What’s a 6 letter word for a Tube- nosed seabird?” Moby would quiz me, as we worked our crossword puzzles together. Apparently as you get older, doing crossword puzzles is purported to be one way to ward off dementia. What studies have actually found, however, is that doing daily crossword puzzles actually only makes you better at… doing crossword puzzles!
(But it does help to pass the time on long bumpy motorsails.)
The answer, BTW was “Petrel” for a tube-nosed seabird.
