Haul Out Day

"I always feel like The Ghost from Christmas Past when we do this exercise of hauling the heavy chain out on our side deck to rinse it and let it dry." On our primary alone, we have 200' of chain and 120' of rope. Then our secondary anchor has 200' of rope and 30' of chain.

Getting Ready to be Hauled Out

We enjoyed a lovely leisurely couple of days sailing down to Grenada from Bequia, arriving on Palm Sunday.

Grenada's Cruiser's Net

The cruiser’s net in Grenada is always very lively. On Safety and Security this morning we heard that a sailboat coming up from Trinidad had a boatful of eight ‘Venezuelan looking’ men trying to overtake them. The sailboat was able to get away,. but the hull is riddled with bullet holes. They [...]

New Way to Clear into Customs

How do you clear in to Customs, when you arrive at a port and don’t feel like blowing up your dinghy?

Teaching William some Notes

I realized that if I set up my piano early in the morning, then I can play before there is too much sun in the cockpit.

Paddling around Bequia

Our Fantasy Weekend

02 June 2017 | Oracle Team Base Tour, Bermuda
Caroline
The email came in on June 2 that we had supposedly won an all expense paid BMW America’s Cup Sweepstakes to include roundrip airfare for two to Bermuda; accommodations at the luxurious Hamilton Princess & Beach Club Bermuda; two days of premium race viewing aboard a BMW Yachtsport 28; a sunset dinner cruise aboard a private catamaran yacht, our own chauffeured BMW; a welcome gala event and much much more.
We were to leave on June 9th, but had to accept our “prize” immediately.
“Right. Moby, are they asking us to pay the taxes up front and send a pre-paid money order to Nigeria?”
“No, Caroline. I think this is actually legit. I think we won a trip to Bermuda next weekend. Do you want to go?”
“Of course I want to go!”
Phenomenal does not begin to describe our whirlwind trip to see the America’s Cup.
