Coffee Crisis!

08 February 2008 | Foxy's, Jost Van Dyke
Oh My God...we're out of coffee. All we could eek out this morning was 1/2 cup each, brewed from the last of the beans Dave & Lilka brought us from the States. With all the mega-yachts and charter boats around here, you'd think it would be pretty easy to find decent coffee. But, nope, all we could find were some old bags of flavored (yuk) beans. But, the Coffee Gods were shining on us, as we ordered a cup of coffee tonight at Foxy's, an instituation in the BVIs. As soon as our waiter set it down, we knew it was going to be good. For one thing, he said it would be another minute for Louis' cup, as they were still "making it". And mine had a golden layer of "crema" on the top...just like an espresso. Well, it was the best cup of coffee we'd had in ages. So, we asked our waiter if there was any way we could buy some beans from them, as we were out, and he came out of the back with a vacume-packed bag of Peet's coffee!! We were pretty excited (ok, we're a little nuts about our coffee.)
