After 4 weeks of sailing I have compiled some interesting statistics: We run the generator 8 hours per day to provide AC power to run the appliances (e.g. washing machine, microwave, icemaker and vacuum system) and also to recharge our DC battery bank with a capacity of 840 Amp Hours. The batteries power all the DC systems like navigation, autopilot, refrigeration etc. In total we have used 9600 Amp Hours of DC power to date. We have run the Genset for 189 hours and the port and starboard engines have 121 and 123 hours on the clock. To run these 3 engines we have used about 700 litres of diesel. When we have to motor during low wind periods we use only one engine - this gives us 5.5 knots of boat speed. Our water maker has now been in use for 100 hours which produced 6000 litres of water - what a blessing to have showers daily! Up to today we have produced only 3 small black bags of non biodegradable rubbish - cardboard, tins and bottles goes over the side - not bad for 4 people in 4 weeks!... All plastic are cut up into smaller strips to fit into any empty plastic containers /water bottles and gets filled with plastic before discard of it. Our PB's are: Highest wind speed 23kn, Fastest boat speed 13.4kn, Best Days Run at 189 Nm, best 3 hour run 25 Nm, longest Gennaker run 27 hours, Largest Waves at 3.5 m, biggest ship passed 1087 feet, closest encounter with a ship 1 Nm, Ben our fishing guru has kept his statistics which makes interesting reading: Fish caught: 6 Yellowfin Tuna - released 1 5 Bonito - released 5 4 Dorado - released 2 3 Wahoo - released 1 2 sailfish - released 2 1 Longfin Tuna 12 marlin strikes - 5 hook-ups all on marlin and all came off. "Spooled" once by a "monster of the deep" - stripped us of +600 m of 80 lb braid set at full drag!! - presumed large billfish of 300kg plus.

Something to chew on till next time! Adios Amigos
