We have been in La Paz at the Palmira Marina for a few days now. Each morning we have been on the 9 am shuttle to town. Town is only about 2 miles away. We have signed up and are members of Club Cruceros - a group made up of sailors from around the world who have made La Paz their home. The group is a wealth of information. You can find just about anything you need via the network of people. We had Thanksgiving dinner with our American friends on their Thanksgiving. We have eaten at the market in town - chilaquiles with fried eggs!! We took a taxi ride to the outskirts of town to the Walmart - needed to try and find some food items from home. Hard to believe, but fresh whipping cream is nowhere to be found! We are walking the town almost everyday and are getting to know our way around - sort of. We walked back to the marina from town but not without stopping for ice cream twice!
We have also found that there is another Scot Free here in La Paz.... They are Scott Free (his name is Scott). On the VHF radio, there was some confusion as to which Scot Free was calling. Sooooo, we announced to the fleet that since there were two sailboats called Scot Free, and that we were from Canada, we would call ourselves.... Scot Free, Eh? and hopefully the fleet can now contact the boat that they are looking for!

We passed by this beautiful bay on our way to La Paz. We will be going back on our way into the islands of the Sea of Cortez. Looks like we have found paradise!

Just a photo of the bay.... Scot Free IV is the first boat from the left. Oddly, in this remote bay, there is a restaurant and a resort.

We took the dinghy into shore. It was time to stretch our sea legs! We wandered along a dirt lane and found ourselves on the green of the Bahia de los Suenos Hotel's golf course. Everything is desert like then you stumble onto a very well kept green on the golf course.... very odd. We didn't see anyone golfing, but we followed the course back to the hotel for a very well received cold beer & nachos. Seems to be a very exclusive resort. Bahia de los Suenos is in a very remote part of the Baja.

Being the shy and introverted people that we are, we took the dinghy and invited all the folks in the bay to join us for an impromptu dinner ashore. The turnout was fantastic - everyone was there! What a great group of sailors! Joe & Sue have been cruising for the last couple of years and are a wealth of information, but they missed the group photo. We look forward to seeing everyone again somewhere, sometime! Starting in the front and going clockwise: Iris & Michael - S/V Desert Vision, John - S/V Scot Free IV, John - S/V Swagman, Holly & Mike - S/V Wanuskewin, Dwayne - S/V Ronin, Ken - S/V Mariah, Beth & Jim - S/V Resilience.
