s/v Second Wind
South Carolina
Scott
11/29/2007, Isle of Palms

We have had a great trip and met many very nice people along the way. We left Southport and made it to Myrtle Beach at dusk. The Rock Pile was a bit scary at times, but we made it through with no problems. Spent 2 days in Myrtle Beach and had a great time. We left Myrtle beach and anchored out just north of Winya Bay, SC, then got up early the next morning and made it to an anchorage just outside of Isle of Palms. We got up this morning and had an easy day sail to Isle of Palms. We will most hang out here for a weather window to go offshore. Overall the trip has been excellent, other than a few shallow spots that we crept through ever so slowly. The waterway guide has been our saving grace! More to come.

Beaufort to Wilmington

11/24/2007, Wrightsville Beach, NC

We left Beaufort on 11/21/2007 at day break. The wind was on our nose again, so we had to motor the majority of the way. The channel entering into Bogue Sound is shoaling and only had about 6 feet of water in some places. We arrived at Sneads ferry about 4pm and anchored for the evening on the waterfront. We left Sneads ferry at daybreak headed for New River. A word of caution for anyone making this journey, there is significant shoaling at green marker 61 A. Tow boat US will be needed if you try to pass close to the markers on the port side, Trust me on this one! We arrived at New River around noon and fixed our turkey Dinner for Thanksgiving. We left New River around 9am headed for Wrightsville Beach We finally had some good wind that was not on our nose and motor sailed. We arrived in Wrightsville around 4pm. Since it was getting cold, we decided to dock at the marina and refuel and have some electricity for heat. So far, a great trip! More to come.

11/15/2007, Bayboro to Beaufort NC

We left Bayboro at sunrise to move Second Wind to Beaufort, NC. We left at sunrise and arrived at Sea Gate Marina at 3-pm. The wind was on our nose the entire trip and we had to motor, but fun was had by all. Ann Williams, Patrick's Mother came with us and we certainly enjoyed having her aboard as usual. The trip was uneventful, with a few minor problems, but nothing to bad. We will stay here at Sea Gate for 3 - 4 days and fix the things we no are wrong. We plan to have a Bon Voyage party on Saturday night, that will be fun. Then we will wait for our weather window to leave and head further south.
