We left Fort Lauderdale on Saturday and headed offshore to Miami. We had a very pleasant sail and the seas were excellent. Winds were out of the east at 10 knots. We arrived at Government Cut Channel around 2 pm. Upon entry into the channel, We realized we had no forward motor power - Not a good place for things to go wrong. Not knowing what was wrong, we decided it was a good time to call Tow Boat US and get us out of the busy channel. As it turned out, we lost our forward gear and are now at Anchor Marine on the Miami River getting a new transmission. We plan to anchor out at Marine Stadium and test things out before heading further south. We have made the best of the situation and continue to have a lot of fun along the way. We have enjoyed the beaches and culture here in Miami. More to come.

We finally made it to South Florida and are having a great time. The houses along the intracoastal waterway are not to be believed.... Some of the largest sprawling houses we have ever seen! We have watched the manatees and dolphins play almost every day and that has really been relaxing. We have only been able to travel every couple of days due to the weather patterns. Hopefully that will change the further south we go. We have strong cold fronts every several days (cold is 60 degrees, but the winds associated are very high and make travel difficult. When the winds blow, we find an anchorage and sit tight it passes. We should leave West Palm Beach in a day or so and will continue down the ICW to Fort Lauderdale. Our refrigerator went on the blink so we have a repair man coming sometime today. We will have to restock today and then we hope to be on our way. More to come!

Give a wave as you head down the ICW into Hollywood, past Hallendale Blvd...my grandparents used to live in Trafalger Towers right on the ICW, we made many a visit there and watched those sprawling houses get built through the 70's and 80's. We miss you and hope all is well!

We have spent the last month at a Marina in Merritt Island. During which time we spent on the Brightwork. We also painted the cockpit. She is looking very spiffy. We spent time as well playing with our families and it was great to see everyone.
We are currently anchored at Dragon Point and have been for the past 3 days. We had a strong Cold Front push through which had some pretty hefty winds ( 45mph ) with better gusts. It appears that this time of year in Central Florida colds fronts move through regularly with great weather in between. While at anchor, we have enjoyed the daily dolphin show. We have never seen anything like it. It is almost like being at a marine park with them jumping completely out of the water daily. It looks like we will leave in the morning for Ft. Peirce so stay tuned for more. Destination still the keys at this point.
