We continue to stay in Miami, exploring different parts of the city. Prior to coming here, we had heard of many negative experiences, however, that has not been the case for us. For example, in South Beach, the local water police told us about the favored local bar where beer from all over the world is sold for $3.00. And also what restaurants are good and which to avoid. Over the past weekend, Patricks Brother and sister in law, Richard and Judy spent the weekend on board Second Wind. We had a great sail in Biscayne Bay, we wanted to stay the night at no name harbor, however, it was full, so we went to Virginia Key for the night, then on to South Beach on Saturday Night. We ate way too much, and enjoyed each others company. It was a great weekend. We are currently at Mia Marina for the night and then will go back to anchor for a while. Stay tuned.....

We have been in Miami for several weeks now and we have fallen in love with this area. It is so nice to be in an area where you are accepted for who you are. We have enjoyed the beaches, nightlife, and the people we have met have been fantastic. Thank you Michael and Kathy from the Laundry Bar! Yall have been great! From where we are anchored, we have access to Miami Beach, Virginia Key, Key Biscayne, Miami (downtown) and Coconut Grove, What else could you ask for! This has been an absolutely enjoyable experience. We plan to stay several more weeks before moving on. The weather patterns continue to be erratic with one front moving in after another, however, we could not imagine a better place to hold over! We still have several places we would like to visit before moving on. More to come.

We left Fort Lauderdale on Saturday and headed offshore to Miami. We had a very pleasant sail and the seas were excellent. Winds were out of the east at 10 knots. We arrived at Government Cut Channel around 2 pm. Upon entry into the channel, We realized we had no forward motor power - Not a good place for things to go wrong. Not knowing what was wrong, we decided it was a good time to call Tow Boat US and get us out of the busy channel. As it turned out, we lost our forward gear and are now at Anchor Marine on the Miami River getting a new transmission. We plan to anchor out at Marine Stadium and test things out before heading further south. We have made the best of the situation and continue to have a lot of fun along the way. We have enjoyed the beaches and culture here in Miami. More to come.
