The Rock has been conquered again

this time by the Scrabblers. And scrabble up we did. We sleepyheads didn't connect big, fat cruise ship equals thousands of fat tourists. Such an easy equation but the sun must have had an impact on us. When we came to the cable car there were so many people you could barely see the little ticket office. Having just two cabins going up and down we gave up straight away and went to explore the botanical garden instead. Not quite what is promised and not really worth going to. A bit deflated we considered getting a taxi to go up but there were only 'tour taxis' that charged over £20 per person and you were on a tight schedule. So we jumped on a local bus and went as high as he would take us. The remaining hike to the Jewish Gate and the start of the Mediterranean Steps almost killed us. But once we started climbing along the cliffs the wind and the view made up for that. All the way to the top without meeting a soul. We bought the £10 ticket that lets you visit all the sights (the Moorish Castle, the Siege Tunnels, The WWII Tunnels and the Cave) on The Rock and went about exploring it. Being good, we had no food for the monkeys. But almost everyone else had! So I begged some peanuts from one of the bus drivers and was immediately conquered myself. The little monster on top of me had just taken a bath and I can tell you, to have 4 cold, wet, little hands all over you are is weird sensation. They relieved me of the peanuts in no time and it was all over before I could start enjoying it.
