Departed Cabo San Lucas at 0645 Friday AM and arrived here 1900 Saturday evening. The first 40 and the last 40 nm of the 190 nm trip might be considered a bit nasty. Three boats were here Saturday night and they left Sunday AM. I planned to leave Monday AM but weather has not improved at all, as multiple sources and people have corraberated. Sunday, the thought of being here until Thursday drove me crazy. Now safety and common sense have taken over so here I sit. The cell-phone connection is spotty but the Banda Ancha wifi connection via Telcel works depending on where I swing, to north or south which happens about every 10 minutes.
The maintenance and fix-its are pretty much done so there is not too much to do except enjoy the breeze (8-18 kn now) and hope that the anchor holds and keep the snubber from chafing. The sky is clear and the temp is ok for shorts in daytime. I have a swell from the SW which make the surf massive on the beach and watching the few pangas that go in and out is interesting.I have not signed up for the Pangueros BSM 101 course yet and really hope to stay off the beach.
I have one or two novels to read and then its into the educational stuff. Sorting photos, updating the blog and cooking have and will fill some time.
Oh Marge that clear cylinder with spare antenna parts and connectors/adapters came in handy when the VHF quit receiving. I hooked a handheld up to the masthead antenna cable via a convenient switch under the nav table, so I have good if awkward vhf use.
Well, let's see if this will upload. Maybe more to follow.
