And we are on our way at last! Jimmy Cornell escorted us to the port police to have our passports stamped first thing, and was very helpful with translating into Spanish for us, and ensuring we all had the correct forms. Then it was back on the boat to stow the last goodies away, top the water tank up. We were the first ones out the marina, wanting to avoid the rush of boats. Once out the harbour we hoisted our mainsail with one reef and heard a big bang! Turns out the block for the first reef had broken which Neil very quickly replaced. By the time that was done the other 21 rally yachts were milling around and the start buoy and committee boat were set. On the gun we shot across the start line and made third place passing close to the committee boat and Jimmy Cornell who waved us on. No other dramas except spilling olive brine juice all over the fridge, and breaking the stove lighter. Luckily we have another, but if that breaks we may have a problem lighting the stove. We have had a lovely day sailing in calm conditions and 15 - 20 knots of wind. All three of us have good appetites, and look forward to a dinner of curry and rice tonight. A stunning sunset tonight but no green flash.
