Day 14 Tenerife to Barbados
02 December 2016 | Atlantic Ocean
Gillian
We sailed all night and have not had to use the engine for the last 24 hours. Eric the Egret stayed with us and tucked his little head into his feathers all night, having a good rest. At about midday he took off and has not returned. Looks like a good 24 hour rest was all he needed. Neil will miss him - Jane and I caught Neil chatting to the bird on numerous occasions, and he decided that Eric was a male, so as to have more male company on the boat. The heavens opened today with torrential rain and wind gusts. We filled buckets of water with the rain and topped up the water tank. We all have wet hair, and wrinkly fingers and toes. We have now reached our final waypoint and are now trying to head west towards Barbados. Unfortunately the winds are not being too helpful, so we have to zig zag across out track. We are currently sailing at 5 knots with 9 knots of wind. Over the last 24 hours we managed 129nm.
