Day 1 Guadalupe to Colon
12 March 2017 | Carribean Sea

. What a great start to a passage! Calm sea, light to moderate wind, and sunny skies! We have had a good day sailing making good progress at about 6 knots. The wind has ranged between 8 and 14 knots and we are very comfortable. Neil hailed a South African boat as it sailed past us (s/v Zephyr) and had a pleasant chat with the skipper who hails from Cape Town, catching up with news regarding the disappointing cancellation of the Cape Argus race and the bush fires in Hout Bay. We have had a couple of accidental jybes and with one we went round a complete 360degrees! Thank goodness for that boom brake, as it allows the boom to gently move from one side to the other, almost like using a self tacker on the jib. Neil has put a fishing line out so let's hope we get a nice Mahi Mahi for dinner! Also have just seen a whale in the distance, crossing our path!
