Day 6 passage to Minerva Reef
06 May 2013 | South Pacific Ocean
Gillian
Today was go slow day. At our current speed we were going to arrive at South Minerva Reef too late and North Minerva Reef too early. We don't want to enter the reef before sunrise so we have had to reef the main and furl the genoa to reduce speed. Still going to fast though so may need to reduce to crawling speed once we get to South Minerva. Gorgeous hot day - too hot in the sun and the water temperature is now 24 degrees. Neil has is fishing lures out - hoping for some fresh fish for dinner tomorrow. Because of the light winds the boat has not been healing much so instead of the normal muesli and yoghurt it was toast and marmalade for brekkies this morning, and pasta for lunch. Odd things happen to a boat at night - found Neil's jersey stuffed amongst the crockery. Must have rattled during the night and disturbed his sleep. Works like a charm! Neville, the only way you can follow our track is by opening the map on the sailblog website (on the right hand side of my blog). You can also link it to google earth - have a look at the Minerva reefs!
