We're on our way!

At last - the adventure begins! We left Southampton early Saturday morning with Jane and Shannon as crew. No wind and against the tide, so we motor sailed most of the way. We hauled our new gennaker up and that was fun while it lasted, and picked up a mooring at Yarmouth. Gorgeous evening - enjoyed the sun and had a delicious barbecue.
Sunday we had a beautiful sail past the Needles and then on to Poole. What a busy channel - boats up and down and tacking in front and behind. Had to run the gauntlet crossing before the chain ferry but we made it! Arriving in a packed marina we had to negotiate a very narrow berth. Hit a pontoon on the port side but no damage and then Neil steered us straight into the berth faultlessly. Shew!
Locked the boat to head to the pub for lunch and then realised that I had left the keys inside! The good news is that our boat is very hard to break in! Luckily the sailor next door had a pair of bolt cutters which we used to cut the lock, and then off to the chandlery to buy another.
After an enjoyable lunch we enjoyed ambling around the Old Town, after which Jane departed, and this afternoon Shannon has left. That leaves us on our own. We will miss their company and their help with berthing!
