Day 1 Falmouth to Coruna

we left at 7.30 this morning to sunny skies and calm seas. Motor sailed until 10am and then caught the wind. We tried the gennaker for a while but the wind picked up and we were doing some good heeling, so took it down. The rest of today has been great sailing - the wind is on the beam at about 12 knots and we are making good speed between 6 and 9 knots. There is a bit of a swell but not uncomfortable at all. So a great start - champagne sailing! We are so pleased to have AIS as there are so many ships around. Before I would have panicked when I saw one close but now I feel a lot safer, knowing that there is enough room. Sea temp has already increased - it was 14 C when we left and is now 17C. Looking forward to a swim sometime!
